Choose one claim that affects a decision. Write its current basis and the new information separately. Check whether the information addresses the same claim and context. Choose a disposition: unchanged, less certain, revised, narrowed or unresolved. Record what additional information would change the disposition.

Updating a belief is not reacting to every new headline. Keep the claim, its scope, the basis for your view and the change condition visible enough to revise without pretending certainty.
1. State the claim and its basis
Write one sentence that could be wrong. List the observations, records, experience or trusted explanations supporting it and mark assumptions separately.
2. Inspect the new information
Ask whether it addresses the same claim, context and group. Note what it adds, what it does not address and whether the source can be checked.
3. Choose a disposition and next condition
Keep the belief unchanged, become less certain, revise it, narrow its scope or mark it unresolved. Record what would justify another update.
Questions to consider
Should one new article reverse my position?
Not automatically. First check whether it addresses the same claim and adds information relevant to your decision.
Do I need to assign a percentage to every belief?
No. Verbal states such as uncertain, provisional or unresolved are enough when numeric precision would be invented.
What if the belief is tied to identity or values?
Separate the factual claim from the value. You can revise an explanation without abandoning the value that made the question important.
