Try this

Provide the audience, goal, source facts, must-include points, and constraints. Ask for one draft. Compare it with the source material, remove invented details, restore your own judgment and voice, and send only the version you can defend without the model in the room.

Check-in: Did AI reduce drafting time without introducing claims, tone, or commitments I would not have written myself?

Evidence: Reviewed · source · Noy & Zhang (2023) — Experimental evidence on the productivity effects of generative artificial intelligence

Review note: Reviewed against Noy & Zhang (Science, 2023). Task-specific randomized evidence supports faster and higher-rated mid-level professional writing with ChatGPT. The Brali protocol keeps factual verification and final accountability human and does not generalize the effect to every writing task.

AI is unusually good at making the blank page less blank. That is useful. It is not the same as being responsible for what the page says.

1. Give it a real brief

State the audience, purpose, length, tone, source facts, and any non-negotiable points. A vague prompt mostly asks the model to invent the missing brief for you.

2. Ask for one workable draft

Use the first pass to create structure and wording quickly. Do not spend ten rounds polishing a weak premise; fix the premise yourself if the task is underspecified.

3. Reconcile every material claim

Check names, dates, numbers, quotations, promises, legal or policy language, and anything presented as fact against the original source. Remove details the model supplied without evidence.

4. Take back the final edit

Rewrite the parts that carry your judgment or relationship with the reader. The final test is simple: would you still stand behind the message if nobody knew AI helped draft it?

Questions to consider

Should I send the AI draft as-is?

No. Treat it as draft material. Check facts, names, numbers, commitments, tone, and anything that could matter to another person before sending.

What did the experiment actually show?

In one preregistered experiment with mid-level professional writing tasks, participants with ChatGPT completed tasks faster on average and received higher quality ratings. That does not prove the same gain for every writing task, model, or workplace.

Publish as a bounded AI writing workflow: evidence supports task-level productivity gains in a specific professional-writing experiment, while the protocol keeps factual verification and final accountability human.
