Define the must-have criteria first, inspect each option against the same criteria, record unknowns separately, and compare survivors only after the individual evaluations are complete.

Write the must-have constraints and relevant preferences before opening the comparison, evaluate each option against that same list, mark missing information as unknown rather than pass or fail, remove options that clearly violate a must-have, and compare the remaining trade-offs only after the individual evaluations are recorded.
